Introduction of the Essay

Abraham Lincoln once said " Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Mr. Lincoln's quote is true, it states that people's character, self being, personality, etc will change once they get what they wanted. Once people get what they wanted they stop working for it, and change their whole mind game. Since they don't need anything no more they feel like there is nothing to loose and they change because the overwhelming greatness that comes with power effects them. You can clearly see this happening in the story Kissed by an Angel  by Elizabeth Chandler when Ivy has to have the power to control herself from the dead of Tristan, when Tristan had to make the desicion of staying with Ivy or losing her again, and when the power of thier love comes out.

Flash Card Story

 

 

OnSeptember 11, 2001 was the day that completly changed my life. I didnt see it coming no one did; it was a shcoking moment for the people all around the world. I was at Time Square, my friends and I where just about 20 minutes away from all the nightmare. Alexander and Alfredo were the once that notified me about it. I didnt react to anything I was in shock all I remember was them screaming out my name. " Maria, Maria!,  We have to leave!!! Maria!" I did hear them but i didn't react; I felt frozen like everything around me was in slow motion. I looked up in the tallest tower which was the north tower and i could see a golden eagle. I was confused why was an eagle gold. The more I stared at it I realized it was a statue that had flown out of one of the windows that got hit. When I finally reacted Alfredo, Alexande, and me started running, I felt we were lions running as fast as they can from disaster. I was holding on to Alexander's hand; I had no clue where we were going all I knew was to run. At a point i had fallen and looked aorund me all around me ws screaming, running, crying, i felt as it was something out of a horror movie. Alfredo got me up and carryied me into his car because i had sprained my ankle. Alfredo drove and drove, i ws sure he didn't know where to go since we had just moved to New York last month. And we had no family here, so he drofe until we got to Boston. And there we stayed listened to the new and heared what had happend. September 11, 2001 the day I surly will never forget. The day in history that no one would ever forget.  I'm sorry for all the love ones that died and got ingured in that event i'm sorry for the families that got seperated; may they rest in peace...September 11, 2001

I Am Ivy (from the book Kissed by an Angel)

I am confused and lost

I wonder why he did it

I hear Tristan calling out my name

I see his face everywhere I go

I want I want to feel his touch

I am confused and lost

I pretend to be happy

I feel everyone is talking about me

I touch his grave with great pain

I worry every second

I cry mostly every night 

I am confused and lost

I understand nothing that's going on

I say to myself why? why to you 

I dream of the day I get to see you again 

I try to be strong

I hope I can get through this

I am lost and confused

 Kissed by an Angel is about a girl name Ivy and her boyfriend Tristan. they were madly in love with each other and everything was going smoothly until some else came into the picture.Someone killed Tristan and the same person that killed him is now going after Ivy. Tristan is Ivy's guardian angel that's on a mission to stop her from being killed. However, Tristan knows that if he saves Ivy then his mission will be complete and he would have to leave her. So he has the though choice of either saving her life and leaving her or her being killed and them being together again.  I choose this book because it seemed like a good interesting book about a girl how was madly in love and her life going perfectly fine until her boyfriend got murdered. I think that even though Tristan loves Ivy so much and he wants to be with her he's going to make the right choice of helping her not get killed. He's going to protect her and make the killer go to jail and finish his mission because he will soon realize that even though he has to leave Ivy she will come back to him when the time is right.

Hero

Quote: A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and edure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." - Christopher Reeve ( "Superman") In this quote about beinga hero i think he is trying to explain that everyone is a hero, but you have to bring the hero out in you. That the hero in us is the part that's been through a lot but yet doesn't take the wrong path, but instead help others. i do agree with this quote that Christopher Reeve stated, beacuse it's true you dont have to be superman, batman, nor wonderwomen to be a hero. A hero is anyone who believes in themsleves, one that's been through a lot but yet they find the strenght to still help people. Like, I previously stated anyone can be a hero even if they're not batman, superman, wonderwomen, etc it can simply be someone so close to you like your mom. The hero figure in my life is my mom. She has been through a lot having to raise kids and working non stop so we can have what we need. She thought us good from bad, she has thought me i'm not alone and she's always there for me when i need her. Though she does not have a cape nor can she fly or have super strength she's my hero and will awlays be my hero.
